Consuelo the Media Princess

Well, Consuelo has made her first appearance at Austin Dog and Cat, with her boy friend Prince! Read all about our Saturday adventure — but please disregard her Girl’s casual attire.

Plus, AD&C, which is the brainchild of my friend Debi Martin (above),  is worth checking out, all of you dog/cat lovers!

Back at It

Okay, I’ve been away from this here blog long enough. I haven’t come up with a clever post, so let’s try to ease back in. I’m still sad about losing ThunderDog, but Patsy Clementine is in fine form.

Right now, I’m getting ready to head to New York for Book Expo, right after the Writers’ League benefit with Roy Blount Jr. And I’m trying to get my hands on a copy of the June issue of Austin Monthlyit’s all about the Austin literary scene, and I’m IN IT! Now, there’s another first!

Oh yeah, and I need to write about the trip to Wimberley (what I can write for public consumption), Flight of the Conchords, James Otto, Carol’s visit, and the Big Man (as in Clarence Clemons)!

To be continued…

Goodbye to a G’Boy

ThunderDog is now an angel dog and this girl still loves him mightily.

What a roller-coaster ride 2008 was! First off, I turned 50 in January and started writing about it right here at my blog. Continue reading ‘Greetings, Y’all!’

Sharing With Cavalier Rescue

Patsy's first Xmas in Austin (2005)

This just in from Thunder and Patsy’s Aunt Sally, who is the coordinator for Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue in Texas:

“I do not like to ask my friends for monetary support but we have just rescued over 60 cavaliers and english toy spaniels and the vetting bills will be horrendous – these guys were in a puppy mill in West Virginia that had almost 1000 dogs. How can anyone care for that many dogs, let alone pay for the feed???????

“If any of you can help please do but do please do NOT feel that you have to. Also please forgive me for my brazen request for funds and say a little prayer for these little guys, some are in terrible shape!!! Thank you one and all.”

Donations can be made at Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue. And Patsy¬† can attest to life after puppy mill — she spent her first six years in an Oklahoma puppy mill and came to us 10 (yes, TEN) pounds overweight with lots of female problems and an untreated thyroid condition. Nearly three years later, the happy little girl is right at home right here in Austin, and she’s an absolute joy (not to mention a trim 16 pounds!). I like to say Patsy’s in her own little universe, and I’m just passing through!
